$400m for majority stake in one of India’s largest education service providers EuroKids
ECEC stands for Early Childhood Education and Care, not an industry or term you would associate with private equity and big business.
However, US private equity firm KKR & Co have moved forward in purchasing a majority stake for $400m USD in EuroKids. EuroKids is one of India’s largest education service providers in the pre-school and private K-12 school sectors.
The $400m purchase granted KKR & Co a 92% majority stake with the sellers being a domestic private equity fund (75%) and Swiss PE house Partners Group (17%) who are also the current owners of Australia’s “Guardian Early Learning”.
EuroKids – one of the largest operators in India’s growing organised pre-school sector recently purchased Mumbai based “Kangaroo Kids Education Ltd” in 2017 who have a chain of 79 pre-schools under the Kangaroo Kids brand and a chain of 16 schools operating under the Billabong High brand.
